About us
Who we are
North East Social Trust (NEST) is a professionally managed, non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to serving the North Eastern States of India. Established as a Trust on October 21st, 2002, NEST is committed to voluntary social work in the region.
After its inception, North East Social Trust (NEST) initially focused on working with women and youth. Over time, it expanded its target group to include children, youth, the LGBTQI+ community, and women. NEST also began addressing the livelihood needs of these groups. Today, NEST’s work has broadened to include strengthening governance, enhancing education, promoting mental health, and addressing other critical community issues.
We now explore alternative livelihood opportunities and options for incremental income, initiate advocacy and awareness programs for democratic governance, and work to improve the educational environment with a focus on early childhood education, nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and reducing school dropout rates. Additionally, we provide mental health support to community members.
